After reading some references in Internet and in books, I found a lot of information about multiple intelligence and brain based research. There are some materials showing that both of them have a close relation. I think it is the main key to teaching children a foreign language well and want to share with you. Multiple intelligences need not be daunting to middle or secondary classes where lectures typically delivered key points of any lesson. Although genes play a role in intelligence, intelligence is based on brain research. Gardner defined intelligence as the ability to solve problem.

Intelligence has some kinds such as logical-mathematical, linguistics, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic and musical. To teach well, it is necessary to know what kind of intelligence our students have. Therefore, multiple intelligence is the best way to use in teaching children effectively.

Logical-mathematical intelligence: this helps human to be able solving problem and achieving results is the main residence or the basic for science and mathematics. It is regarded as the ability to solve problem with an organized logical way.

Linguistics intelligence: it is presented by ability of writing and the reaction through words, it is develop among writing skills.

Spatial intelligence: it is considered useful for thinking. The visual and imagination is considered a main source of thinking, it is represented in the ability of imagination, recognition  of the visual world accurately, modifying and switching the initial recognized thing by an individual.

There is a relationship between linguistics intelligence and spatial one, basing on this, the relationship between the mind and the language is achieved through images and not by voice.

Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence: it is shown as the ability of an individual to use the body in skilful way to get an expressive aimed goal, represented by accurate movement, dancing, acting, and using the skill for solving problems.

Musical intelligence: who have a high level of musical intelligence can compose music and play it by the age of five. The children who musical intelligence is extraordinary and their linguistics intelligence is low use their musical skill to transmit language into rhythmic modes.

Each child belongs to a kind of intelligence; no one is the same with others. As a teacher, we need to understand this thing to apply suitable methods in teaching them.

  1. hi Hoai. thanks for your writing.Your writing is good and I see that this writing is very helpful for me. You gave many kinds of MIs through your writing such as Logical-mathematical intelligence, Linguistics intelligence, Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence so on.
    From your writing, I recognize that we should use different kinds to teach children. And iI think we should analyse the psychology of learners, we can use effectively one kind for group of learners.
    I hope that we can understand what children need and have the best method to teach primary English for children
